Sign making materials will be provided while they last.
Minimum recommended size: 18 inches x 24 inches
Sign recommendations: No foul language (the media will use this as an excuse not to cover). Think family audience: G, GP rating - not “R” for restricted. This can be a security issue as well - foul language can provoke foul responses.
Pictures are worth 1,000 words! (Be mindful of family audience).
Consider being “for” something, not just against. Ex.: Fund _______ (Healthcare, Soc. Sec., Education).
Use small words to make short phases, for example: No Kings, Impeach 47, Tariffs are Taxes. If message is longer than 4 to 5 words will anyone bother to try to read it as they pass by?
Make your letters BIG - Must be readable with a quick glance from a distance while moving.
Be creative, use color, graphics, photos, drawings, numbers…
Use multiple sign boards with single words to create a phrase: “Fund” “The” “Gov’t”
SECURITY: Do not confront passers-by or visitors except with love and understanding with a willingness to talk (not argue). Seek comfort in numbers, do not act alone. If necessary, use your phone as a tool and fake it. That is, if you say you are recording, they will assume that you are whether you have your camera on or not, and they will most likely tone down any aggression.
See something, say something.
